It’s not just frogs that i find when I’m out in the field. Check out these pictures of a male palmate newt we saw on Ben Lomond and the impressive dragonfly nymph from Ben Ime. Both newts and dragonfly nymphs enjoy a tadpole snack but luckily, due to the high numbers of tadpoles, they don’t make an impact on the population. Which, after all, is why the frogs lay so many in the first place.

Hi Anna,
Sorry I’ve been meaning to look at your site for ages. Very interested in the Palmate Newt sighting on Ben Lomond, as we’ve not recorded it ourselves before, and it’s probably the first record of it for Ben Lomond. Where did you see it?
Cheers,
Alasdair
